Insane Sabi Sands Sightings with Head Guide Dan Fincham

In this week’s episode of the Safari Stories podcast, we are once again in the Kruger National Park and specifically at Savanna Lodge in the Sabi Sands. We chat with the head guide Dan Fincham about his time at Savanna Lodge and why he thinks the Sabi Sands is one of the best places to view wild animals in an ethical way.

Predator viewing here is world-renowned and Dan shares some of the experiences and sightings he has had through the years, including a pride of lions tackling a male buffalo and spending almost an hour bringing it down.

Dan also tells us about his favorite leopards, who he has been viewing from when they were 6-week old cubs until maturity and who have now raised litters of their own.

We also chat about the difficulties of rhino poaching in the area and how the Sabi Sands has managed to keep poaching in check in more recent years, by using things such as sniffer dogs and helicopters.
